Ask Tink: Can I Pool Hop?

"I'm coming to Disney in the off season and I have heard that when it's slow, you can swim in pools at other resorts. Is this true?"

Thank you so much to the Tinker who submitted that question. Unfortunately/Fortunately, the answer is no, pool hopping is not allowed. The reason I say it is both a fortunate and unfortunate thing is because clearly, it would be fun to be able to check out some of the other resort's pools, but it's also nice that Guests who are NOT staying at YOUR resort are not allowed to crowd your pool.

I should mention the few small exceptions to the no-pool-hopping rule. If you are staying at an All Star Resort, you are generally allowed to use all of the pools at all three All Stars, though I am told this does get blocked out in the busier seasons. Likewise, if you are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter or Riverside, you would be allowed to use the pools on both sides.

Disney Vacation Club Members are allowed to use the pools at SOME other resorts, but even that has become pretty limited. It's best to check with Member Services to verify which pools you may use on your specific trip if you are a member.

Of course, if you are staying at a resort where the pool is being refurbished during your visit, you will usually be allowed to either pool hop to a specific alternate resort, or in rare cases, you may be allowed admittance to a water park. (Very rarely done, but I have heard of it happening before, depending on the season, etc.)

Think of it this way though... If you can't pool hop, you have a reason to plan another trip and stay at a different resort!

Hope that helps! Keep the questions coming! tinkinaboutdisney@gmail.com
